月に三回の頻度で生け花をしています。続けて６年が経ちました。
続けていても、特に上達をするということはありませんでしたが、最近ようやく作品に変化をつけたいと思うようになってきました。
そのタイミングと、生け花の作品をちゃんと写真に撮って残しておきたいという前々からの思いから、PCとカメラを一新。その時からブログをやろうと決めていました。
PCを新しくしたことで、ネット環境が格段によくなり、新たなネットサービスも色々と試したくなってきました。
どこのブログにしようか探していた時、偶然見つけたTumblr。
知ってはいたが、友人がやっている理由で始めたTwitter。
写真のアップロードで前々から利用したいと思っていたFlickr。
普段聴いてる曲のリストをブログに載せたいという思いから見つけたLast.fm。
そしてブログは様々なデザインが豊富に揃っているBloggerに決めました。
Bloggerを利用している人で、それらのサービスをBloggerに連携させているサイトを見たことに触発されて、自分でもそれらのサービスをブログと連携させたいと考えました。そのようなことからBloggerのサイト画面の中にそれらサービスで投稿した内容の見出しを載せることにしました。
今はまだサービスの相互的な連携を意図的、能動的にしていませんが、ゆくゆくは（一年くらい経った後かもしれませんが）それら全てを相互に連携させ、閲覧者が自由に行き来できるようにしたいと考えています。
とにかく続けること。生け花では６年同じ花器を使い続けました。６年とは言いませんが、ブログをもっと続けることができて、もう少し変化が欲しくなってきた時、その時に連携しやすいサービス（今ならばTumblrやTwitterなどを考えています）ともう少し相互的な連携をとってみたいと考えています。
Tumblrを始めた初期の頃に流れてきた、以下の文章は私にとってとてもはげみになっています。このことを忘れずに、続けていきたい。そして続けていくなかで、変化を楽しみたいと思います。
「スタンド・バイ・ミー」「キャリー」「シャイニング」など、ハリウッドで映画化され続けるミステリ界の大御所スティーブン・キング。
高校時代に書いた小説が後に出版されたような、文字通りの天才作家です。すでに30年以上、発表する作品すべてが米国ではベストセラー入り、という本物の「才能」の持ち主。
そのスティーブン・キングは「才能」についてこう語っています。
才能というのは、研いでないナイフのようなものだ。 毎日、ただ毎日書き続ければ、そのナイフを研ぐことができる。
人によってナイフの大きさは違う。 しかし研いでみないことには、そのナイフがどんな形なのかわからない。 小さくてよく切れる果物ナイフなのか。巨大な岩もまっぷたつに切り裂く大ぶりの刀なのか。
才能のある・ないというのは単にこのナイフのサイズのことだ。 大きな刀なら歴史的な大作が書けるだろう。でも小さなナイフでも、本を買ってくれる人を一晩夢中にさせる程度の作品を書くには充分だ。
だからナイフのサイズが問題じゃない。 それが本当にナイフか、つまり「研がれているか」どうかが問題なのだ。
だから大事なことは、ナイフを研ぐこと。毎日書くことである。
